The Denver Wolverines are an expansion team in the American National Rugby League (AMNRL), and the first team in Colorado to play the “League” code of the sport. Local support for the club has been surprisingly strong, which has enabled the club to set in place a plan of action for the inaugural 2011 season sooner than expected. Jeff Eberle, a Tigers Rugby Alumni player is the founder of this club.
Informal once-a-week practices are slated to begin in late January. The initial focus will be on learning the fundamentals of the “League” code of rugby which is slightly different than the “Union” code of the game that is currently played by many in Denver.
Practices will increase in frequency and intensity as the AMNRL season (June-July-August) approaches. Anyone 18 or older with an interest in rugby league is invited to join the team and come have some fun.
