#5 Tigers Rugby and #2 Aurora Saracens played a 19-17 duel, with the Saracens going home the victors. The Tigers got out to a 5-0 lead on a pop kick touched down by Alec Walters. Aurora went ahead 7-5 on a long run from their 8-man.
Warren Wood put up another try and the Tigers took a 12-12 tie into the break after the Saracens took another powerful maul into the try zone.
Aurora rambled for a third try and conversiom, and were countered by the Tigers’ Patrick O’Connor. Unfortunately, the conversion was missed, leaving a 2 point gap. Tigers Rugby battled at the doorstep of victory with repeated free kick penalties, scrums, lineouts and taps. In the end, the Saracens held the Tigers out when it counted – for over 10 minutes.
Tigers Rugby plays Dener East next Wednesday, March 23rd at Manual HS. Kickoff is at 7:00 pm.
