East Week

Our East match was hard fought, but we lost 45-7.  It got away from us after being down 14-7 at the half.  They are #18 in the country and we are still #4 in Colorado.  It was a heart breaker.  We were on the one yard line and a scoop was returned 100 yards to break it wide open for them.  There were many Tigers highlights like when their speedy little red headed winger got CAUGHT  and dropped on the 1 meter line by AJ Shannon and Peter Loving after running over 150 meters in a sprint.  Here is what Bernie Decker had to say in Rugby Magazine:

If we would have held it together a little longer,  it might have gone viral.

On Monday, 3/21/11, 3 Tigers Rugby players joined Regis Jesuit in a Freshman/Sophomore match at East HS.  Regis and Tigers have united with Aurora and SWARM for other matches played in previous F/S Festivals this year.  Tigers’ Ben Onaindia, Chalie Ellwood and Jamison Escobar offered tangible experience and effective assistance in a 50-36 loss.  The “Regis Tigers” bsatlled back from a 33-12 halftime margin, aided by tries by Ben Onaindia and Charlie Ellwood.

We enjoyed an invigorating scrimmage Saturday, as the A-side finished off the old timers 54-19, despite a 29-19 halftime score.  With a little more help, the Tigers Alumni may have a better chance on Saturday,  at 10:00 am .
